Sharing the Gospel in Uganda Through Footwashing, Medical Care, and Shoes

At Sole Hope, a Christian nonprofit serving in Uganda, we believe the call to love our neighbor goes far beyond charity. We are on a mission to share the Gospel in East Africa by restoring dignity, treating preventable diseases, and meeting physical needs in Jesus’ name.

Every week, our medical outreach team travels to rural villages, offering jigger removal, wound care, and hope to hundreds of children and families. We wash feet, clean wounds, and gently fit new shoes made from recycled tires. Local shoemakers craft these shoes, representing far more than protection. They are a symbol of restoration.

It’s healing. It’s humbling. It’s holy.

Because for us, the good works always point to the Good News.

1 Peter 3:15 says,
“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”

And hope is what we bring into every mobile clinic, every village, every child’s story.

It’s the hope that says:
You are not forgotten.
Your pain is not your identity.
You are seen, loved, and made new in Christ.

A recent Barna study showed that only 64 percent of Christians in the U.S. believe we are called to share our faith. That is a sharp drop from 89 percent just a few decades ago.

Somewhere along the way, evangelism started to feel optional. But Scripture is clear. If we have received new life, we are meant to share it.

Charles Spurgeon once said, “You are either a missionary, or an imposter.”
Those are strong words, but they matter. The Gospel was never meant to stay silent.

At Sole Hope, we have made a choice.

We will wash feet like Jesus did.
We will care for the sick and clothe the poor.
And we will point to the Healer who restores bodies and souls.

This is not just compassion. It is a calling.
Not just aid. It is an answer.
Not just service. It is the Gospel in motion.
